Covid-19 School-Related Information

With the ongoing concern for students, staff, and community well-being we would like to update everyone on our plan as a school district moving forward.This, of course, is subject to change should there be any further development to the health of our students, staff and patrons.

We have a plan to continue to support student learning.

SCHOOL DAY:

The plan is to have school as scheduled.  We ask our parents and visitors that may enter the building during the school day to limit their visit to necessary school business being conducted at the office window only.

The staff will follow the Mitigation Plan that we have created which will mitigate the spread of germs.

MITIGATION PLAN;

Our district leadership has tried to work closely with state and local health agencies to develop a plan to reduce the risk of COVID - 19 Virus being spread among our students and in turn reducing the risk of this virus being spread to vulnerable members of the Stapleton School District communities.

SCHOOL DISTRICT FACILITIES:

Only school personnel and students only will have access to use the building.  This means access to weight-room, gym, and other facilities beginning Monday March 16-2020.

SCHOOL SPONSORED ACTIVITIES:

All activities have or will be canceled for the next couple of weeks.  All practices have been canceled until March 30th, per NSAA guidelines.

IF SCHOOL CLOSURE IS NECESSARY;

We will expect students and staff to take home necessary learning materials at the end of each day. (Laptops for 7-12 students, books, pencils, pens, calculators and etc.) Should there be a sudden need for school closure, we will open the building to retrieve necessary items the next morning.  Our 7-12 students will engage in virtual learning, using either personal devices or the district-issued device.  Pre-K will receive packaged material for a week at a time.  We will inform everyone concerned with more details with plans specifically for the needs of the particular school closure if that becomes a reality.  Please do not hesitate to contact the office if you have any questions or concerns.

WEIGHT ROOM, LOCKER ROOMS;

Weight Room will be limited to only current students and staff.  Access to our facility will be limited to just these groups starting Monday March 16-2020. We will disinfect the weight room and equipment each evening.  The locker rooms will be disinfected and mopped daily..  All restrooms will also be mopped and disinfected daily or oftener if needed.

CAFETERIA AND FOOD SERVICE AREA:

Our salad, fruit, and vegetable bar will temporarily be discontinued.  Servers will offer vegetables or whole fruit from the serving line.  Condiments will have individual servings and will no longer be served from self serve bottles of condiments.  The drinking fountains have been and will be disinfected each morning and afternoon.  The cafeteria staff will do everything they can to offer top quality and sanitary service.

DISTRICT TRANSPORTATION:

Each bus driver will disinfect their bus every afternoon when returning from their route.  The activity bus, if used, will be disinfected the morning after being used.  Each district vehicle will be disinfected the morning after the trip.

CLASS ROOMS:

Exterior and interior door knobs and commons areas will be disinfected every day.  The floors will be mopped every morning.  Classroom doors will be left open as much as possible to limit contact with knobs.  Student and teachers desks will be disinfected each afternoon.

PERSONAL SANITATION:

Teachers will talk with classes about how important it is in keeping our hands to ourselves, out of our mouths and maintaining personal space.Teachers will incorporate hand washing into class planning.  Hands will be washed before lunch, after recess
periods and after using the restroom or whenever else needed.  Jr. High and High School students will pickup all personal items in the locker rooms daily so the rooms can be cleaned properly.

EVERYONE'S COOPERATION IN THESE MATTERS ARE NEEDED AND VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. THANK YOU
