My name is Brenda Monson. I am in my 20th year of teaching Special Education and Title 1. This is my first year at Stapleton Public School working with the Special Education program. I graduated from Wallace Public School and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Chadron State College. I am married to Mike who farms and ranches north of Brady.
My philosophy is to instruct students to grow academically as well as socially in an environment structured for successful learning for today and the future.
I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. It is my vision to help students meet their fullest potential in all of these areas.
Every classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies not only in abilities but also in learning styles. I will teach to the needs of each child so that all learners can feel capable and successful in their life. I will incorporate themes, projects, group work, individual work and hands on learning in order to make children active learners. I want to tie all of this into the community to help children become caring and active members of society.
My classroom will be a caring, safe and enjoyable environment where each child can learn and grow. I will allow each child to become responsible for themselves as well as their own learning. I want them to become responsible and successful learners for life. Special Education is a vital program that ensures every child at Stapleton Public School receives the best opportunity possible to receive a quality education which will lead them to being successful citizens once they graduate.
