This week in biology we studied the wonder of the cell membrane. Students were exposed to several different demonstrations and labs to show what happens when you build a consentration on both sides of a semipermiable membrane. In this lab students made a starch water solution and placed it inside a small ziplock and then placed it an iodine solution. Starch will turn purple in the presence of a stach. Stach is a large molecule that cannot penetrate theough the ziplock. Iodine however is small and due to the high concentration of particles in the bag iodine went into the baggie and turned the solution purple.

The Elementary Halloween Parade was held today. Each class took turns marching around the gym and the Stapleton Junior Chamber Members selected the best costume out of each class. Winners received $5 Chamber Bucks.

Next week is Red Ribbon Week 2024!!! The National Honor Society has several great activities planned for our elementary students. The theme for this year is "Life's a Movie, Film Drug Free!"
Red Ribbon Week highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year. During Red Ribbon Week, youth and adults around the nation pledge to increase their knowledge by learning more about the destructive effects of drug abuse, including prescription drug misuse, and renew their commitment to live a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
