Earth and Space science students have been learning about how energy is transferred and held by Earth. The students were challenged to make a solar oven that could cook a s'more in January. we had some pretty great results. The ouside temperature was around 55, and most students were able to reach 70 degrees Fahrenheit. One oven topped out at 91 degrees in about 15 minutes.

These 2 amazing young ladies earned RARE awards. One was a kindergarten student who earned hers for being accountable by always completing her classwork on time and with attention to detail. The other young lady is a second grade student who earned her RARE award for being empathetic. She sat by a kindergarten student and helped him read his book during walking time in the morning.

Mrs. Doty’s English classes began the 2024-2025 school year enjoying a wide variety of books thanks to the Stapleton School Foundation’s kind donation. The challenge for the first semester was for the students to “Read like a wolf eats.” The students heartily feasted as evidenced by the following data. Here is the record of the total pages read by each grade for the fall semester: Seventh grade: nine students: 7,588 pages Eighth grade: one student: 1,426 pages Ninth grade: seventeen students: 8,367 pages Tenth grade: eleven students: 10,670 pages Eleventh grade: eight students: 10,220 pages Twelfth grade: eight students: 3,567 pages This adds up to an overall fall semester accumulation of 41,838 pages. The second semester promises to be just as remarkable. Keep on reading!

Stapleton students are still showing great character after the break. We had 5 students earn Rare awards this week. That is amazing! There are 3 sixth grade students who have been very helpful in the classroom. A fourth grade student who cleaned the classroom and a very focused second grade student. What a great group of kids.

Today the ag students spent time updating their AET accounts. AET is an online record-keeping system that helps students track their supervised agricultural experiences. Some students can track products they make and sell, others record hours they spend working for mom and dad, and almost everything in between. Students can use this system to evaluate their efficiency, skills they develop over time, and personal finances. SAEs are a cool opportunity for students to share their real-world connections to ag while learning the importance of good record-keeping.
